Substance Abuse Recovery and Treatment
Foothills Academy has a licensed Alcohol and Other Drug Entity (AODE) program for residents, who upon completing a SASSI assessment, have been identified as having a severe alcohol or drug problem. After the assessment is completed we develop a treatment plan on the residents individual needs. The program consists of ten group sessions which meet one time per week. These sessions are based on the Matrix Model from SAMSHA, which focuses on the residents seeing a need to change, preparing to change and maintaining their sobriety by giving back to the community. Some of the topics covered during the group sessions include values, importance of positive friendships, how substance abuse effects the community & family, and relapse prevention. Residents will also work out of the Client Handbook which is evidenced based material from SAMSHA. They will discuss this material with their primary counselor weekly during their individual session as a follow-up to the group discussions.
